Tana is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia (license number 4177) and holds a Masters of Education with a focus in School Counseling. Her specialties include working with LGBT people and their families, working with adolescents, and teaching effective communication skills. She currently is providing therapy services in private practice, facilitating workshops and trainings, and working as the Director of Counseling at YouthPride. Her work at YouthPride (YP) began in 2008 the counseling program was begun. Prior to working at YP, she had been a volunteer there facilitating the teen group and serving on the board.

Before being on her own and working at YP, she practiced at Beyond Words Center as a psychotherapist and social skills teacher where she specialized in helping parents and children communicate more effectively. A sample of her background includes several years working as an Outward Bound Instructor, leading groups of adolescents and adults in the wilderness;  working in schools as a consultant and teacher; as a facilitator with GOAL, a program that works with girls to strengthen their leadership; and as a counselor in an adjudicated youth program at Inner Harbour, a residential treatment facility.
